Begin with the installation, not the series name
A deep-well bore, open intake, tank, mine or emergency-drainage installation imposes different limits on pump diameter, submergence, cooling and service access. Record the well or basin dimensions, dynamic and static water levels, installation depth and available lifting space before comparing a U-FLO family.
Separate hydraulic demand from catalog maxima
State the required flow and total dynamic head at normal, minimum and peak conditions. Published family limits help establish a search boundary, but maximum flow, head and power figures normally do not represent one simultaneous operating point. The selected size must be checked against its current curve.
Review water quality and construction
Provide temperature, pH, chlorides, sand or suspended-solids content and any corrosive constituents. A stainless-steel family description is a starting point; confirm the exact casing, impeller, shaft, fastener, seal and motor construction for the selected execution.
Complete the motor and RFQ brief
Include voltage, frequency, starting method, cable length, controls, allowable starts, monitoring and any project documentation. For a replacement, add the full nameplate, serial number, dimensions and photographs so DFIN can compare the installed configuration rather than relying on the family alone.
Prepared by the DFIN editorial team as practical identification, selection and maintenance guidance. Confirm the exact product configuration and service procedure before ordering or maintenance.
